Path of Exile Item Upgrading
Players can upgrade their weapons and equipment by adding new accessories. They can also improve its stats base or add additional benefits. To upgrade an item, the player needs to have it in their inventory as well as access to the kiln.
Items with weak bases, such as rings can be upgraded to stronger bases. Items with bases that are strong, such as Titans from eth, have no changes in their stats.
Upgrade components
Upgrade components can be added to weapons, armors trinkets, weapons and gathering tools. They can be used as an attribute benefit, or additional effect, when the equipment is being used. They can be bought from vendors, gathered in loot, thrown away by enemies or received as a reward from missions or chests. Certain upgrades also have cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be at a certain level before you can upgrade.
To upgrade an armor, weapon or other item in the game, players will have to select it and click the Upgrade button on the toolbar. This will display a preview on the right side of the screen showing what the expected upgrade stats will be and also the material or component needed for the upgrade to take place.
There are three types of universal upgrades (which include gems) Prefix upgrades and suffix upgrade components. Universal upgrades, which comprise gems, are able to be used in any kind of equipment and offer less bonuses than upgrade components that are restricted to a specific type. Infusions are only placed in gear that is ascended and legendary equipment are similar to jewels but provide larger bonuses and cannot be placed in any other equipment. Suffix upgrades, which can be placed in gathering tools, will include their name at the end of the name of the item they are attached to, for instance adding the word Glyph to the Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor would transform it into a Canthan Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor.
If a player upgrades a gathering tool, and then replaces the glyphs with a different one the previous one will be returned to their inventory. However, replacing any other upgrade component will destroy it, with the exception of the inscriptions that can be swapped.
Leveling
Path of Exile's upgrade process is different from previous versions in some important ways. Gear is now broken down into tracks and items can only be upgraded a certain number of times before being "leveled out." The cost of upgrading is increased with each level however, the materials needed do not increase as much. This lets players focus their efforts on a couple of key items and maximize their impact, instead of spreading the upgrade costs across several pieces.
If an item is leveled out, it will be able to receive a new set of upgrade components, as well as an increase in the probability that the upgrade will succeed. This bonus is referred to as the Artisan's Energy and it resets to 0 on failure or increases when the upgrade is successful.
Once a piece is upgraded to its maximum level, it will be able to gain affixes which will increase its features. The amount of affixes available is determined by the item's kind. For instance an uncommon or exclusive weapon that has a standard base will have only two affixes, while a legend armor will have eight affixes.
Each upgrade step requires a specific number of Flightstones or Crests, based on the type of item at its current level, and in which slot it is located in. Typically, weapons require more Flightstones to upgrade than other kinds of equipment.
If an item does not reach its max level The NPC will offer the player the option of transfer it to a different person and then re-infuse the item with another set of upgrades. This procedure can take as long as two hours, and costs the same amount of material. However it has a lower success rate.
To determine the height of a structure, engineers will employ a level to compare the measurement against an established reference point like a benchmark, or the ground's elevation. This process is called a "level loop." It involves taking readings with the level and backsight rod and then turning the level and making the foresight rod reading. This method ensures that buildings are constructed to the highest level of accuracy and safety.
Rerolling
Rerolling is the process of changing the upgrade components of an item. It is a very important part of the game, and it can improve the damage, strength or other characteristics. You can do this through the menu for items, or by pressing the Reroll button every time you upgrade an item. Rerolling can be expensive and should only be done in very rare instances.
Reroll tokens are obtained by recycling upgraded items. These tokens are then used to upgrade the original item or an similar item. Recyclable items have a gauge that shows the amount of upgrade. The amount of level that has been filled depends on the rarity and upgrade cost of the item.
In the past, certain upgrade item s had priority affixes which made them easier to roll for than others. This meant that you'd get the stats that mattered most to your build often than other items. This included stats such as the armor's total armour, thorns and the control impaired duration stats or the weapons' bonus attack speed and crit strike chance.
This has changed since the most recent patch. Priority affixes are no longer required and all upgrades will have the same chance of rolling for every stat. This could be a positive or bad thing depending on your needs and wants from your equipment.
Each upgraded item can also be equipped with a special bonus that boosts the item's power by a set percentage or a flat amount. These bonuses are added to regular affixes. The more you upgrade an item, the higher chances of obtaining the bonus of your choice.
The game also includes number set that grants an extra bonus when three or four upgraded items from the set are placed on a unit. This is a great method to give the character more power without spending a lot of money.
Many players choose to reroll their gear and weapons, especially in the early stages of the game. Rerolling can provide a much faster path to a powerful character which allows them to achieve higher levels and progress in the game much more quickly.
Sets
Sets are collections that can be set up differently. They can be different dimensions, have none of the elements, or contain one element. They are useful for organizing data or separating information. They can also be used to study patterns. Sets can be classified in a variety of ways, including by size and shape.
There are a range of set items available to upgrade in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Some are worth upgrading, others aren't. Armor sets that provide the highest defense value or set bonuses are generally worth upgrading. Upgrades to weapons aren't as effective in improving stats as their purple counterparts. This makes them less appealing to upgrade if your collection of armor and weapons pieces is already huge.
Set items can be upgraded to include special procs that are useful for specific builds. Guillaume's Face face and Aldur's Advance boots are two examples of this. Both were upgraded to Exceptional Winged Helms as well as Exceptional Mirrored Boots, respectively. This increased their defense from 217 to 321. (Strength requirements and Level requirements also increased).
Another reason for upgrading certain items is to bring them up to parity with their levels. For example, the Immortal King set has a vast range of levels, ranging from 29 to 76. Upgrades to lower-level items of the set can increase their defense and make them more competitive in terms of damage.
To see if an item is worth upgrading, players must click the Upgrade button on their screen of their character. The attributes of the item will be displayed as well as any necessary items. For example the No-mouth Face will require 1.1K Scrap Materials, 250 Enchanted Dust, and 5 Glowing Shards to upgrade. Alternatively, players can go to the Leaderboard or Golden vendor in Cyrodiil to find out the upgrade requirements for specific items.

In general the jewelry and weapons have better trade value when fully upgraded than armor. Especially for weapons that have damage glyphs for spells or weapons, upgrading them to gold is recommended since it will provide a significant increase in their power. This will also increase the defense of armor with a newer appearance.
